Thrifting for the Garden at the Vintage Market (2024)

Do you love shopping at the thrift store for vintage finds? Wait until you see what I found thrifting at the vintage market for the garden.

Since we’ve been up in Vermont a lot this summer, I’ve spent a lot of time at the vintage flea market and local antique stores.

And I found some pretty cool things that I can’t wait to show you!

Some things I bought and others I wish I bought home with me.

There’s something that I want to buy but held off that’s still in the antique store.

My husband wasn’t a total fan, but I can’t get it out of my head!

I’ll tell you all about it later in this post.

And if you love it as much I do for the garden, I will go back and get it!!!

Thrifting with the Gals

Every month my friends from around the country and I get together to go thrifting.

It’s so cool to see how different the thrifting is in different parts of the country.

If you are coming from Kristin’s at White Arrow Home, Kristin has such a beautiful log cabin home in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.

What I Found Thrifting at the Vintage Market

I’ve told you about this cool outdoor antique and flea market near our cabin in Vermont.

The vendors sell pretty neat things.

And you can pretty much find anything that you’re into.

Last month, I found a few great items here that I brought home for my garden.

I love those vintage egg crates, don’t you?

I still haven’t figured out what to do with them yet, but I love them just the same.

Anyway, we shopped the antique flea market a few times in the last month.

Some trips were fruitful and others a bust.

Here’s what I found!

How cool is that go cart?

I considered taking it home to pot it up and leave it outside in the garden.

That rusty red really caught my eye but I don’t really have the room for it in the beds.

But then I found these cool jugs and crocks.

I’m a huge fan of jugs, crocks and bottles.

They are perfect for holding fresh cut and faux flowers.

So I grabbed a few of these.

This thrifting trip, I was especially drawn to the crocks.

They are perfect for holding fresh cut flower arrangements in water.

There’s no chance of anything leaking and the shape compliments floral arrangements.

I bought them in two different sizes so I can style them together or move them around.

Once home, they were immediately put to good use.

The neutral color of the crocks looks so pretty with these bright and beautiful zinnias.

This jug and vintage fan caught my eye as well.

I love the fan but wasn’t sure where I would display it.

So I didn’t get it.

The jug I almost brought home but held off because I bought those crocks instead.

I also found these beautiful dishes and amber glassware.

The glassware would be perfect for fall decorating wouldn’t it?

I’m leaning towards this light amber color palette in my decor this autumn.

I wound up not purchasing the amber glassware.

But it did inspire how I want to decorate this fall.

And I can’t wait to show you all that soon!

What I Found Thrifting at the Local Antique Store

In addition to thrifting at the outdoor vintage market, we also stopped by Chapman’s Antique Store in Wilmington, Vermont this month.

It was my first time ever visiting this small antique store and let me tell you, they did not disappoint!

They had some super cool things!

It was a rainy day when we stopped in to check out the store.

We were thrifting with my inlaws who were visiting from Hawaii.

I found a pair of these yellow chairs and REALLY love them.

That pop of yellow would be so pretty in my gardens.

I don’t think my husband was too into them though.

So I held off getting them.

But they’ve been haunting me ever since!

I know they are still there…should I go back???

These crates were super cool and there’s so much you can do with them.

I love decorating with crates.

From using them for storage to making them containers for flower arrangements, they are beautiful additions to any decorating style.

While we were shopping, I saw this vintage stroller.

I really wanted to buy it and pot it up.

Wouldn’t it look so cute with plants or flowers inside of it?

My husband didn’t agree with me though and talked me out of it.

If my kids were still small, I would do it and not think twice about it potted up with some pretty flowers in the garden.

I know it’s not a great way to maintain the history of the piece, but it would make a fun statement in the garden.
