VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS EXPECTED TO REVEAL HER RUNNING MATE TODAY. SHE HAS ZEROED IN ON THREE POTENTIAL FINALISTS. THE NEW TEAM WILL HAVE LITTLE TIME TO PREPARE BEFORE LAUNCHING INTO A TOUR OF BATTLEGROUND STATES BEGINNING IN PENNSYLVANIA. KCRA 3’S AMY LU IS LIVE IN WASHINGTON THIS MORNING. SO, AMY, HOW DOES HARRIS PLAN TO ANNOUNCE HER PICK TALE? WE KNOW THAT THE HARRIS CAMPAIGN IS PLANNING TO ANNOUNCE HER PICK BY VIDEO MESSAGE SHORTLY BEFORE SHE APPEARS FOR A CAMPAIGN RALLY IN PENNSYLVANIA TODAY. IT’S A CHOICE THAT COULD MAKE A LASTING IMPACT IN THE RACE FOR THE WHITE HOUSE. DEMOCRATS RALLYING AROUND KAMALA HARRIS WHILE THE OTHER HALF OF THE TICKET REMAINS A MYSTERY. THIS IS A DEEPLY PERSONAL DECISION THAT THE VICE PRESIDENT IS GOING TO HAVE TO MAKE, AND SHE’S GOING TO MAKE IT ON HER TIMELINE, SECURING THE NOMINATION MONDAY NIGHT AFTER A FIVE DAY ROUND OF ONLINE BALLOTING, HARRIS MUST MAKE OFFICIAL NEXT HER VICE PRESIDENTIAL RUNNING MATE, CHOOSING FROM A NARROW LIST OF THREE, INCLUDING MINNESOTA GOVERNOR TIM WALZ, PENNSYLVANIA GOVERNOR JOSH SHAPIRO AND ARIZONA SENATOR MARK KELLY. PEOPLE SAY, WELL, WHO CAN HELP US WIN, BUT IT’S ABOUT WHO CAN HELP US GOVERN MORE THAN THAT, WITH NO PLANS TO VEERING FAR FROM BIDEN ERA POLICIES, HARRIS MUST CHOOSE SOMEONE OPEN TO HER CAMPAIGN STYLE SOMEBODY WITH WHOM THE VICE PRESIDENT GETS ALONG RIGHT. THIS IS A SHOTGUN ARRANGED MARRIAGE, A RUNNING MATE READY FOR THE LEAD UP TO NOVEMBER’S ELECTION. AND IF ALL GOES AS PLANNED FOR DEMOCRATS OVER THE TERM OF THE NEXT FOUR YEARS, SHE’S GOING TO BE LOOKING AT BOTH WHO IS GOING TO BE GREAT ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL, BUT ALSO, AGAIN, THAT PERSON WHO COULD BE READY ON DAY ONE AND HARRIS WILL BE APPEARING ALONGSIDE HER VP PICK IN PENNSYLVANIA FOR THAT RALLY TODAY. BOTH ARE PLANNING TO HIT ON THE ECONOMY AND ATTACK THE POLITICAL OPPONENT, FORMER PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP, REPORTING LIVE FROM WASHINGTON THIS MORNING. I’M AMY LU KCRA THREE NEWS. ALL RIGHT, AMY THANK YOU. HARRIS AND HER NEWLY SELECTED VP WILL BE IN PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA TONIGHT. THEY WILL CONTINUE THEIR BATTLEGROUND TOUR IN WISCONSIN AND MICHIGAN TOMORROW. 509 IS YOUR TIME. TIME FOR ANOTHER CHECK OF WEATHER ON THIS KCRA 3 WEATHER IMPACT DAY. LET’S TURN TO METEOROLOGIST TAMARA BERG. YEAH, THE HEAT IS GOING TO WEAR ON FOR US, BUT AT LEAST THE MORNING IT IS PRETTY NICE AND I ALWAYS TELL YOU EVERY MORNING, AS YOU’RE GETTING READY TO FACE THE DAY, THIS IS THE IDEAL TIME TO DO ANYTHING STRENUOUS OUTSIDE OR EVEN JUST GET OUT AND ENJOY THE COMFORTS OF THE 60S AND 70S RIGHT NOW. TAKING A LIVE LOOK IN LAKE TAHOE, WHERE IT’S CERTAINLY COOL ENOUGH THAT YOU’LL WANT TO GRAB A JACKET. WE’RE DOWN TO 54 RIGHT NOW AT SOUTH LAKE TAHOE AIRPORT, 67 CHECKING IN IN MODESTO, 63 IN STOCKTON, 61 IN SACRAMENTO. AND I KNOW IN THE TRUCKEE AND TAHOE BASIN YESTERDAY IT GOT A LITTLE GUSTY IN THE AFTERNOON. NOT GOING TO BE THE CASE TODAY. YOU CAN SEE THE WIND TIMELINE OR PLAY BY PLAY AS I LIKE TO CALL IT. WE’RE LOOKING AT THOSE WINDS STAYING REALLY JUST BELOW ABOUT TEN MILES PER HOUR INTO THE HEART OF THE AFTERNOON. NOW THE WEATHER PATTERN IS GOING TO STAY HOT. WE’VE GOT THIS BIG AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE RIGHT OVER NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. IT DOESN’T LOOK LIKE IT’S GOING TO BE EASING OR BREAKING DOWN ANYTIME SOON. SO THE HEAT LOOKS TO LIKELY LINGER THROUGH THE WORKWEEK. THEN ONCE WE GET INTO THE WEEKEND, WE START TO NOTICE SOME MORE MILD AIR COMING OUR WAY AND THE EXTENDED FORECAST. HERE YOU ARE GOING TO SEE TEMPERATURES THAT ARE GOING TO BE IN THAT RANGE OF 100 PLUS, AT LEAST IN THROUGH THURSDAY AND FRIDAY. THAT IS WHY WE DO HAVE IMPACT ICONS. YOU’LL SEE THROUGH THE REST OF THE WORKWEEK. SO THAT JUST MEANS, YOU KNOW, BE ADVISED THAT THE HEAT AND THE HOTTEST PART OF YOUR DAY IS THOSE TIMES BETWEEN 2 P.M. AND 7 P.M. AND THEN AS WE GET INTO THE WEEKEND, THINGS WILL EASE UP QUITE A BIT. I’LL HAVE A COMPLETE LOOK AT YOUR FORECAST BY YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD COMING UP HERE IN ABOUT THE NEXT TEN MINUTES. IT IS 511 RIGHT NOW. BRIAN, ARE YOU TRACKING ANY ISSUES FOR COMMUTERS? WE’VE GOT A CRASH ON HIGHWAY 50 RIGHT NOW. I’M TRYING TO GATHER SOME MORE DETAILS ON IT. IT’S RIGHT NEAR THE STOCKTON BOULEVARD OFF RAMP. SOUNDS LIKE THERE’S FOUR VEHICLES INVOLVED. AND ONE OF THEM IS A TOW TRUCK, BUT SO FAR DON’T SEE ANY DELAYS POPPING UP ON THE SPEED SENSOR. BUT SOMETHING YOU’RE DEFINITELY GOING TO KEEP AN EYE ON FOR YOU. THIS MORNING THROUGH STOCKTON. LOOKING GOOD HERE ON 599 AND THEN ALSO THROUGH TRACY. WE’VE GOT SOME DELAYS AT THE TOP OF THE TRACY TRIANGLE. NOW AT 27 MINUTES FROM I-5 TO 580 WESTBOUND, 580, 27 MINUTES FROM 205 TO 680 DOWN INTO DUBLIN AND THEN 99 FROM MODESTO TO MANTECA. WE’RE LOOKING AT A 13 MINUTE RIDE THERE HERE IN SACRAMENTO, NINE MINUTE RIDE OUT OF ROSEVILLE, DOWN TO THE SPLIT HIGHWAY 50 OUT OF FOLSOM. YOU CAN EXPECT A 15 MINUTE RIDE 99 NORTHBOUND, NINE MINUTES AND I-5, A TEN MINUTE RIDE, BUT SOMETHING I’LL KEEP AN EYE ON ON THAT HIGHWAY 50 CRASH THERE. IT’S ON THE WESTBOUND SIDE. BACK TO YOU GUYS. ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU BRIAN. ALL RIGHT. 512. IS YOUR TIME STILL AHEAD A REBOUND ON WALL STREET. HOW FINANCIAL MARKETS ARE FARING TODAY AFTER A VOLATILE START TO THE WEEK. PLUS TRACKING TROPICAL STORM DEBBIE A LOOK AT THE DAMAGE AND THE STATE THAT’S NOW PREPARING FOR THE STORM’
