Do you have neighbours who keep their grass in perfect shape? We do. We are mostly surrounded by retired peoplewho have taken it upon themselves to make their front yards look like golf courses. It’s beautiful for the neighbourhood, but it makes it particularly more embarrassing that we are NOT that diligent with thegrass (or weeds) on our property.

With three young kids, we are lucky if we have time to mow the lawnbefore the grass gets dangerously close to the kids’ knees. (Kids are short though, right?) Last summer, I’m pretty sure my husband mowed the lawn five times. Total. LOLIt was a particularly dry summer, but still. Our poor neighbours!

To make it even worse, my kids LOVE dandelions. What kid doesn’t? And let me tell you, our little yard is full of them! So when the dandilions turn into fuzzy puff balls, I hearan evil laugh inside my head when the kids pick every last fluffy ball in the yard and blow them into the air. It makes me feel like we’re restoring the balance in the neighbourhood. haha

Honestly, I was excited to look at craft ideas but very put off by your lengthy intro describing how guilty you feel not cutting your grass. Perfectly manicured lawns are the number one reason pollinators and birds are dying – plus many related consequences. If anything you should be talking to your neighbors about why their perfect yards are harmful, and not feel like you need to write 4 paragraphs of guilt at the intro of a crafty up-cycling post. Humans need to learn how to be better, and not destroying everything beautiful in sight (like wildflowers) is a good start. Let them blow dandelion seeds!!!
